How to reduce the amount of graphics
To reduce the amount of graphics you can:
- Switch to BD-J Profile version 2.
- Render the static images of the main menu into the menu video.
- Where several images look the same, use one and the same physical image for all of them.
- For static images with protruding parts, cut these parts off and put them into separate images.
- For static images with cavities (holes), cut them into several images so that the empty areas disappear.
- For static images that contain identical parts, cut these parts off (creating several images) and use one and
the same physical image for all of them.
- For identical static images that only differ in their text, separate the text from the background and use one
and the same physical image for the identical backgrounds.
- If you have a large background image, divide it into several parts - this allows the application to
pack them more compactly. This rarely helps, though.
To see how the images are combined during compilation, download and compile the test
project, then rename the JAR to ZIP, unpack it and open m1.png in any graphics editor.
