How to avoid problems

%TEMP% folder

  1. Allow applications to be run from the temporary folder if this is currently disabled. It is required for some operations, such as MUI generation, the compilation of sound.bdmv and so on.
  2. We recommend moving the Temp folder to the root of a drive. This avoids potential problems with names that are too long and with non-Latin characters in the path of the Temp folder.

Project

  1. Use only Latin letters, numbers, spaces and underscores in the project path, the project name and the compilation output folder.
  2. Use only Latin letters, numbers and spaces in the names of project tree items and objects.
  3. We recommend using video with a resolution of 3840*2160 (UHD version only), 1920*1080 or 1280*720.
  4. We recommend not using B-pyramids when encoding video (use "--b-pyramid none" on the x264 command line).

Video format and resolution

We recommend avoiding video in the 4:3 format. If you use video with a resolution of 1280x720, the menu resolution must be the same (work in the upper left corner of the Designer and set the matching grid).

.Net Framework

This application requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.

If you get an error message when you start the subtitle generation or the internal multiplexer, try running the application with administrator privileges.

Scenarist® BD

We recommend using Scenarist 5.3.2 for 2D projects and Scenarist 5.6.0 for 3D projects.

PlayStation

A note about the slide animation: we recommend increasing the "To" values by one step when you need to move graphics off the screen. For example, if you have to move the graphics 300 pixels within 6 frames to get them off the screen, specify 350 pixels and 7 frames.

A note about the size of menu.grin: the PlayStation 3 halts if menu.grin exceeds 2.33 MB. To minimize the size of menu.grin you can do the following:

Huge projects

If your project contains more than 500 menus, we recommend checking its memory usage with a software player in debug mode. Compile the JAR file with the memory debug info or the full debug info, replace the JAR file in the project output folder, and watch the usedMemory value (it should be less than 16 MB). You can use the following software players for this:
